MIME Application/xhtml xmlPages Not displaying properly? Try the Free PC Health Advisor Download to Troubleshoot Problems .. MIME application/xhtml xml is a MIME media type that is used to identify files containing XHTML markup languages. When an e-mail program or Web browser encounters a file marked with the mime application/xhtml xml label, it understands that the type of media falls under the application category and that its subtype is either XHTML or XML. In most cases, it can expect well-formed XML content; it cannot be fully guaranteed that the file conforms to XHTML standards. The mime application/xhtml xml media type is not based on a predecessor MIME type, nor is there a vendor specific or experimental MIME type. Rather, the mime application/xhtml xml MIME type was created and registered in anticipation of the deployment of XHTML 1.0. Because other MIME types are used for XML, specifically application/xml and text/xml, the use of the .xml file extension is not recommended for XHTML as Web servers could be confused and treat the file differently according to the other MIME types. The mime application/xhtml xml media type was defined and registered in 2002. Information about this MIME type is defined and registered in RFC 3236. |
